2017 ENT for the PA-C: Thyroid Cancer Controversies is organized by American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA) and will be held during Apr 27, 2018 - Oct 31, 2020. This CME Conference has been approved for a maximum of 1 AAPA Category 1 CME credits.

Course Description:
This course reviews the epidemiology of thyroid cancer and the goals of treating it. Significant history, clinical exam, laboratory, and imaging findings, along with the newest diagnostic testing available is discussed. The current ATA guidelines and an evaluation/treatment algorithm is reviewed, to clarify how to approach the thyroid case that is not always clear-cut.

At the conclusion of this activity, the participant should be better able to:
• Develop a systematic structured approach to the evaluation of the thyroid nodule.
• Understand the utility of genetic testing (Afirma gene) in the thyroid nodule biopsy.
• Develop a treatment plan and understand the role of surgery in the patient with thyroid nodules.
