Topic 1: Knee Osteoarthritis

Upon completion of this session, the participant should be able to: COMP
• Detect signs and symptoms suggestive of osteoarthritis.
• Counsel patients on the benefits of exercise for treatment and prevention.
• Counsel patients when to consider glucosamine, chondroitin, supplements, icing, bracing, acupuncture, and surgery.
• Determine when visco supplements or cortisone injection may be helpful.

Topic 2: Pearls and Pitfalls of Diagnosis of Sports Medicine Injuries

Upon completion of this session, the participant should be able to:COMP
• Detect and refer hand injuries that may require urgent surgical referral.
• Perform the most effective tests for De Quervain’s tenosynovitis.
• Distinguish ankle sprains from high ankle sprains.
• Evaluate foot injuries for Lis Franc sprain.

Topic 3: Pearls of the Evaluation and Management of Hip Pain

Upon completion of this session, the participant should be able to: COMP
• Determine the etiology of greater trochanteric hip pain.
• Consider differential diagnosis of anterior hip pain in adult and pediatric patients.
• Select physical examination techniques or tests to best evaluate hip pain.
• Develop treatment plans for hip pain.
