10th Annual Winship Cancer Institute Gastrointestinal Cancer Virtual Symposium is organized by Emory University School of Medicicne and will be held on Feb 27, 2021.
Continuing Education Credit:
The Emory University School of Medicine is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians. The Emory University School of Medicine designates this live activity for a maximum of 5.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 5.0 MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine’s (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. Participants will earn MOC points equivalent to the amount of CME credits claimed for the activity. It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit.
Emory Nursing Professional Development Center (ENPDC) is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. Attendees to this CNE activity will be awarded 5.0 contact hours by ENPDC. No conflict of interest has been found with the speakers for this CNE activity nor with the members of the planning committee. Credits will be given after the completion of the survey that will be emailed after the symposium.
Georgia Society of Health - System Pharmacists is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) as provider of continuing pharmacy. Participants of the session who complete the evaluation and provide accurate NABP e-Profile informaiton will have their credit for 4.5 contact hours (0.45 CEU) submitted to CPE Monitor as early as 14 days after the event and no later than 60 days after the event. Please know that if accurate e-Profile information is not provided within 60 days of the event, credit cannot be claimed after that time. The participant is accountable for verifying the accurate posting of CE credit to their CPE Monitor account withn 60 days.
This virtual symposium will have expert review of the latest procedures, technology and medical treatments for GI cancer patients. National guidelines will be reviewed. Emphasis will be on multi-disciplinary care, novel new drugs that have been recently FDA-approved, and upcoming clinical trials. This symposium is for physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, pharmacists, and oncology nurses who care for cancer patients.
At the conclusion of this activity, participants will be able to recognize the different treatment modalities available for their patients with GI cancers and formulate a tailored treatment plan. This conference will be a recorded livestream. The recording will be available for a year post conference.
Upon completion of this education activity, learners should be able to:
• The learner will recognize the multi-disciplinaryapproach (interventional radiology, surgery, radiationoncology, and medical oncology) to treating GI cancers;
• The learner will be able to identify and use the new oncologic drugs for GI cancers and know the ongoing clinical trials;
• The learner will be able to incorporate multi-disciplinary approach towards their patient care and offer an increased number of treatment options for the patients.
