• recognize the value of standardized questionnaire for assigning risk categories for obstructive sleep apnea.
• predict the likelihood of postoperative delirium in patients undergoing thoracic surgery.
• formulate clinical strategies for management of patients at risk of obstructive sleep apnea.
• construct research protocols for identification of specific roles of hypoxia and sleep fragmentation in etiology of postoperative delirium.
