Statement of Need:
Primary care clinicians are most often the entryway to patients for their healthcare. This course will provide learners with a comprehensive update of the most important advances and best practices impacting primary and family medicine as well as internal medicine clinicians, This course will focus on Hypertension, COPD, Rheumatology, crystalline diseases, connective tissue diseases, spondyloarthropathies, vasculitis, venous thromboembolism, venous thromboembolism, osteoporosis, contraception, disease prevention, and immunizations. It is critical that clinicians stay abreast of current best practices and guidelines in order to optimize patient care and outcomes.
After participating in this activity clinicians should be able to:
• Employ both non-pharmacologic and pharmacologic treatment options to manage hypertension.
• Formulate a treatment plan for the stages of COPD.
• Apply evidence-based recommendations for preventive screening tests for adults.
