• Topic: Psychopharmacotherapy, Antimicrobial Stewardship and C. difficile infection
At the conclusion of this program, the participant will be able to:
Psychopharmacotherapy in Major Depression and Bipolar Disorder: Clinical Cases – Dr. Reamer Bushardt
1) Discuss pharmacologic management options within clinical cases of patients with major depression and bipolar disorder. 2) Relate physiologic and pathophysiologic alterations of brain neurochemistry to symptoms of depression, bipolar disorder, and psychosis, including the genetic link and molecular basis of injury 3) Apply clinical practice guidelines for antidepressant and mood stabilizer therapies. 4) Describe key parameters for medications used to treat mechanism, safety, tolerability, efficacy, cost, and simplicity of use.

Pharmacotherapy and Mood Stabilizers in Primary Care – Dr. Reamer Bushardt
1) Discuss “off-label” use of mood stabilizers and psychotropic agents for agitation, restlessness, insomnia, and other behavioral symptoms. 2) Differentiate commonly prescribed agents by pharmacologic class, mechanism of action, pharmacokinetic factors, indications/uses, as well as tolerability, and efficacy. 3)Apply best practices in prescribing and shared decision making when considering “off label” use of drugs in a case scenario involving dementia and brain injury. 4) Consider steps to optimize benefits reduce risks to patients, while prescribing with liability authority.

Antimicrobial Stewardship for the Primary Care Provider- Dr. Christopher Bland
1) Discuss implications of inappropriate antimicrobial prescribing in outpatient setting. 2) Review core elements for antimicrobial stewardship in outpatient setting 3) Review practical pearls for stewardship within commonly seen outpatient infectious diseases.

Update in Management of C. difficile Infection- Dr. Christopher Bland
1) Review risk factors and epidemiology for C. difficile infection. 2) Review updates to recent guideline updates from American College of Gastroenterology and Infectious Diseases of America. 3) Describe key updates for pharmacotherapy within initial infections 4) Discuss pharmacotherapy options for recurrent C. difficile infections.

• Topic : Drug Therapy in Older Adults,  and  Oral Anticoagulants
At the conclusion of this program, the participant will be able to:
Optimizing Drug Therapy and Avoiding Drug Injury in the Older Adult?(Part 1) – Dr. Reamer Bushardt
1) Discuss key physiologic and pathophysiologic changes of aging that impact drug therapy 2) Apply age-sensitive principles for medication dosing and management to patient scenarios 3) Discuss high-risk drug-drug and drug-dietary supplement interactions commonly encountered in primary care, including best practices in identifying and managing related toxicities.  Optimizing Drug Therapy and Avoiding Drug Injury in the Older Adult?(Part 2) – Dr. Reamer Bushardt   Objectives: 1) Discuss key physiologic and pathophysiologic changes of aging that impact drug therapy 2) Apply age-sensitive principles for medication dosing and management to patient scenarios 3) Discuss high-risk drug-drug and drug-dietary supplement interactions commonly encountered in primary care, including best practices in identifying and managing related toxicities.

Drug Therapy for the Prevention and Treatment of Osteoporosis – Dr. Reamer Bushardt
1) Define treatment goals for patients with or at-risk for osteoporosis 2) Relate treatment strategies to empiric evidence regarding fracture prevention and treatment for women and men 3) Develop a prevention and monitoring plan for patients at-risk for osteoporosis 4) Describe pertinent pharmacologic parameters related to pharmaceuticals used in the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis.

Case Based Approach to Oral Anticoagulants- Dr. Christopher Bland
1) Review current role of warfarin in the management of patients requiring anticoagulation 2) Delineate differences among direct-acting oral anticoagulants for proper selection 3) Apply knowledge within patient cases to appropriate select an oral anticoagulant.

Infectious Diseases and Internal Medicine Jeopardy- Dr. Christopher Bland 
1) Recognize guideline directed therapy and monitoring for select disease states 2) Identify key laboratory indices for selecting and monitoring first-line pharmacotherapies 3) Differentiate common mechanisms of action, drug interactions, and adverse effects among pharmacotherapy options.

• Topic: Prescribing Opioids and Substance Use Disorders and Pharmacotherapy for Weight Loss

Best Practices in Prescribing Opioids: A Regulatory Perspective – Dr. Reamer Bushardt
1) Describe evolving opioid prescribing and regulatory practices in the United States 2) Discuss recently released opioid prescribing guidelines, highlighting the relevance to primary care providers 3) Describe best practices for managing patients with chronic nonmalignant pain, highlighting guidance from a regulatory perspective .

Substance Use Disorders: Screening, Management and Referral to Treatment – Dr. Reamer Bushardt
1) Describe the neurobiology of addiction as a chronic, relapsing brain disease. 2) Identify individuals with SUD using evidence-based screening tools (e.g., SBIRT strategies.) 3) Formulate an evidence-based treatment plan for individuals with common SUDs (e.g., alcohol, marijuana, opioids, and stimulants.) 4) Collaborate as an inter-professional healthcare team to design comprehensive SUD treatment plans.

Update in Pharmacotherapy for Weight Loss- Dr. Christopher Bland
1) Review risk factors and criteria within obesity 2) Describe appropriate patient populations for weight loss pharmacotherapy 3) Delineate key characteristics of various pharmacotherapy options (approved and off-label) 4) Apply knowledge within patient cases to select an appropriate pharmacotherapy option.

SGLT2 Inhibitors: They aren’t just for diabetes anymore- Dr. Christopher Bland
1) Review mechanism of action of SGLT2i agents that provide insight into diabetes and non-diabetes disease state management. 2) Differentiate among currently FDA-approved SGLT2i for diabetes and non-diabetes management. 3) Apply evidence to cases where SGLT2i may be appropriate for management.
