AOTrauma Course - Basic Principles of Fracture Management is organized by AOTrauma and will be held from Nov 12 - 14, 2020 at Hosteria Duran, Cuenca, Azuay, Ecuador. Description: The course contains several evidence-based lectures that cover the essential information required. In the practical exercises the participants will receive training in the application of fixing techniques. Through small group case discussions, participants are supported and guided to understand decision-making and management skills. There is a pre-course evaluation and another at the end of the course, which allows us to carry out our objective evaluation on the fulfillment of goals and objectives. Learning Objectives: • Discuss the concepts of stability, their influence on bone recovery, and how to apply implants to achieve proper stability. • Plan a treatment based on assessment, diagnostic images, classification and decision-making. • Apply reduction techniques in the management of fractures, paying attention to the importance of soft tissue. • Treat simple diaphyseal and (peri) aticular fractures using different surgical techniques. • Evaluate and recognize special problems related to fractures in the immature skeleton, pelvic lesions, fractures in osteoporotic bone, postoperative infection and delayed consolidation or pseudoarthrosis. • Plan the initial treatment of the patient with polytrauma.
