Everest Base Camp Trek & Wilderness Upgrade for Medical Professionals is organized by National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS), Idaho Rescue Training and will be held from April 11 - 30, 2024 at Mount Everest, Koshi Province, Nepal.
Take your ongoing education to new heights in Nepal!
Learn to improvise equipment, deal with challenging environments, and make difficult decisions with confidence in your Wilderness Upgrade for Medical Professionals course.
You'll learn to apply your urban emergency care knowledge to the wilderness through case studies and practical scenarios with mock patients. Our seasoned instructors will guide you through five days of intense, hands-on learning to make sure you are prepared in the wilderness.
Along the journey, enjoy the villages of the Khumbu Valley staying in Tea Houses while completing classes, visiting local clinics, sharing meals with local Sherpa, joining in a Sherpa Dance, and visiting the Khumbu Climbing Center. The trek and Wilderness Upgrade for Medical Professionals course will conclude with 2 days at Everest Base Camp. Climb Lobuche Peak before flying back to Kathmandu via Helicopter. Come a few days early and enjoy time in Kathmandu enjoying the trekkers' hotspots of Thamel, Durbar Square, and the local Stupas.
This Trek is organized and led by Dr. Nima Sherpa's companies Sherpa Legends and Kaitu Expedition, a veteran operator on many 8,000m peaks. Idaho Rescue Training and NOLS Wilderness Medicine are joining the trek to teach the Wilderness Medicine portion of the course. Kaitu Expedition & Sherpa Legends will have many experienced Nepali trekking guides, climbing guides, base camp staff, and porters as we travel to the Kaitu Expedition Everest Base camp.
Not a climber? No worries, the Lobuche climb is optional. Enjoy a rest day in Periche or a day at Lobuche High Camp.
