OVERVIEW

The Interrelationship of Periodontal Disease, Systemic Disease, Restorative Dentistry and the Tsunami of Implant Failure: Diagnosis, Prevention and Treatment. is organized by Continuing Education, Inc. and will be held from Dec 01 - 08, 2024 at Holland America's Nieuw Amsterdam, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, United States of America.

Program Purpose:
Implant dentistry is a multibillion-dollar worldwide industry, and although it has improved the lives of many people, the combination of poorly executed implant procedures, lack of adequate implant maintenance, and a lack of adequate knowledge and skill by professionals, the sheer number implant failures due to peri-implantits has sky-rocketed. Instead of helping patients and improving their lives, we are now seeing the damage to the alveolar bone and the emotional stress that the assault of implant failure can cause. The implications of increasing implant failure have far-reaching effects on our patients and our profession.

The attendee will gain an understanding of the following:

  • The prevalence of peri-implant disease
  • The etiology of implant failures
  • The prevention of implant failures
  • The systemic and local factors that contribute to peri-implant disease
  • The current treatment protocols that are available to treat implant disease
  • The amount of bone volume needed for predictable long-term implant success
  • How much keratinized tissue is for predictable long-term success
