Day 1 Meet your guide at Punta Arenas airport and transfer to Hotel Los Hielos for orientation. Explore Punta Arenas and enjoy the warm hospitality of the Hotel Los Hielos. (D)
Day 2 The trip begins with travelling to EcoCamp Patagonia in Torres del Paine National Park. We'll stop in Puerto Natales for lunch and we're likely to run into herds of guanaco and the occasional rhea. Once we've arrived you'll stay in a Suite Dome which are 300/sq. ft., tented, igloo-type domes - designed in same way as ancient native Kaweska's, but with modern amenities like a bathroom and solar-/turbine provided power. (B+L+D)
Day 3 (The next three days are options not necessarily in order) Hiking options in Torres Del Paine.
Today we'll hike from Paine Grande Lodge along the shores of mountain-lined Lake Pehoe to the northern end of glacial Lake Grey with a picnic lunch before the boat ride to the blue face of Glacier Grey. From the southern end we'll return to the EcoCamp (B+L+D)
Day 4 Hiking options in Torres Del Paine.
The goal of today is to complete the most famous trek of Torres del Paine. We'll start with a walk toward Hosteria Las Torres and from there, move on to the bigger challenge: the moraine. The moraine is a steep mass of boulders that will be the final challenge before arriving at the granite towers, which give the Torres del Paine their name. We'll eat lunch here and admire the scenery followed by a walk back to camp. (B+L+D)
Day 5 Hiking options in Torres Del Paine.
We'll start with a drive towards Pudeto dock by the shores of Pehoe Lake where we'll board a catamaran towards the north-west sector of the lake. Here we'll begin the challenging trek to Valle Frances. An active walk leads us to the hanging bridge over the French River and on towards the upper prospects of the valley. There we'll find unique geological formations like Hoja, Mascara, Espada, Catedral, Aleta de Tiburon, and the magnificent Fortaleza and a picnic lunch. (B+L+D)
Day 6 This is a travel day to an international border outpost where we'll check out Chile and Argentina. Border crossings can be slow and the distance is long, so be sure to have a good book in your daypack! We'll arrive at our hotel in El Calafate on the shores of the massive Lago Argentino that afternoon afternoon. That evening we'll have a festive welcome dinner and get ready for the next adventure! (B+L+D)
Day 7 Today, we'll tour Glacier Perito Moren, a spectacular glacier in the Southern Patagonian ice field. After this, we'll jump on-board a catamaran to get the closest-possible view of the glacier, before making our way to El Chalten. At El Chalten we'll spend the afternoon seeing the town and its fantastic views before arriving at our hiking base the Hotel Destino Sur. (B+L+D)
Day 8 The group will go from the hotel to the trailhead at Hosteria El Pilar where you can pick from several different hiking lengths to make time for a trip back to town for some souvenir shopping or time relaxing with a coffee and your journal. (B+L+D)
Day 9 Get ready for a full day adventure as we go to Cerro Torre where we can see the entire valley. Those interested in a longer hike can go to Laguna Torre which runs through a glacier-originated valley with spires rising in the background. (B+L+D)
DAY 10 We'll be hiking to Pampa de las Carretas today with beautiful views of the Fitz Roy and Cerro Torre from the Laguna Toro trailhead. Once we've crossed the tree-line we'll arrive at an area where fossils can be found along with a spectacular view if the weather is agreeable. (B+L+D)
Day 11 Time to explore Viedma Glacier which is the largest in 'Los Glaciares National Park'. You'll learn about its history and behavior over the past 10 years while witnessing the noticeable erosion of the ice over the rocks. Then we'll sail South across the bay with a view of Fitz Roy and Huemul mountains and icebergs. (B+L+D)
Day 12 Today we begin the journey back home. We'll board early to transfer back across the Patagonian steppe to the airport of El Calafate. Here, we'll bid a fond farewell to new friends and go our separate ways back home. (B)
