Overview

Mercy Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) 1 Day Refesher is organized by Centura Health and will be held on Aug 27, 2021 at Mercy Regional Medical Center, Durango, Colorado, United States of America.

Target Audience:
This course is also designed for physicians who regularly treat trauma patients. The program emphasizes the first hour of initial assessment and primary management, beginning from time of injury and continuing through assessment, intervention, stabilization, and when needed, transfer to a trauma center.

CE Information:
As organizations accredited for continuing medical education by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education, the American College of Surgeons and the American College of Emergency Physicians designates this continuing medical education activity as follows:
• Provider Course: 16 credit hours in Category 1 credit

Physician must attend the entire course and demonstrate knowledge of and proficiency with the course requirements to receive credit. An ATLS verification card will be issued to physician participants who successfully complete the course. Verification is valid for 4 years.

Description:
The American College of Surgeons (ACS) Committee on Trauma developed the ATLS program for physicians who do not treat victims of major trauma regularly and may not have immediate access to sophisticated emergency care facilities.

Objectives
Based on well-established principles of trauma management, the course is intended to provide physicians with one acceptable safe method for immediate management and basic knowledge necessary to:
• Assess the patient's condition rapidly and accurately.
• Resuscitate and stabilize the patient according to priority.
• Determine if the patient's needs exceed a facility's capabilities.
• Arrange appropriately for the patient's interhospital transfer.
• Assure that optimum care is provided.
