Description:
This year our faculty will discuss the pertinent topics of the day. Specifically, lessons learned regarding ultrasound evaluation of fetuses and mothers in the era of Covid-19 will be discussed. Congenital heart disease remains a challenge for screening so talks will be given on optimizing the ultrasound exam of the fetal heart, assessing the 4-chamber view and outflow tracts, including the 3-vessel view, and unknown cases of congenital heart disease will test the audience skills. Placenta accreta spectrum continues to be on the rise so information regarding diagnosis (both in first and second trimesters) and treatment will be given. Congenital anomalies of the spine and brain will be presented. Identification of Borderline OB anomalies will assist in your clinical practice.

Gynecology ultrasound will cover the causes of acute and chronic pelvic pain, treatment for pelvic congestion syndrome, and clues to the diagnosis of ovarian torsion. These skills will assist in your evaluation of ER patients. Cysts in the vagina and cervix will be discussed; management implications will also be given. An update on how to perfect the evaluation of uterus and endometrium will be given.”

Course Objectives:
Upon completion of this conference, the participant will be able to:
• Incorporate lessons learned regarding the evaluation of fetuses and mother in the era of Covid-19
• Demonstrate how to perform an optimal fetal cardiac exam
• Differentiate abnormally developing early pregnancies from normal, based on the sonographic correlation of anatomic findings
• Provide updated information on detection of ectopic pregnancy
• Identify the ultrasound appearance of common and interesting fetal spine abnormalities
• Look for clues in evaluating ventricles to recognize normal and abnormal fetal brain diseases
• Describe the definition of adherent placenta spectrum, risk factors, image interpretation, and management
• Provide information regarding congenital heart disease and using audience response system answer questions presented in unknown cases
• Optimize resolution and evaluation of the fetal 4-chamber view of the heart
• Identify normal and abnormal examples of the 3-vessel view in evaluating for congenital heart disease
• Become familiar with lessons learned from an expert witness in legal cases of obstetrical ultrasound
• Discover the advantages of ultrasound for evaluating the female pelvis, including how to use ultrasound to evaluate patients with pelvic pain
• Recognize common sonographic findings of female pelvic pain when evaluating pelvic problems including ovarian torsion and common gastrointestinal and vascular causes of pelvic pain
• Understand how different clinical sites use practice protocols, e.g. regarding follow-up ultrasound exams, limited evaluation of recommended views
• Enhance recognition of pelvic congestion syndrome through cases shown and become familiar with interventional radiology treatments
• Select the most appropriate differential diagnosis of maternal tumors seen in pregnancy
• Improve detection of vaginal and cervical cysts, and understand management options
• Develop differential diagnosis for pelvic pain in emergency room patients presenting for ultrasound examination
