Description:
These lectures provide a framework and outline processes for the emergency department health care team to manage challenging encounters, address workplace violence, and to improve provider wellbeing. Additionally, the lectures incorporate materials with the goal of participants forming a multidisciplinary team to respond effectively in caring for patients suffering from intimate partner violence and sexual assault.

◘ Create a plan to apply the principals of de-escalation and safe contingency plans when confronting a potentially violent patient.

◘ Employ the principals of identification, treatment, documentation and referral to aid patients suffering from intimate partner violence

◘ Determine which patients have suffered the consequences of sexual assault and how to manage the encounter with compassion.
