This Live activity, Botulinum Toxin Certification and Ultrasound Guided Orthopedic injection Workshop, from 06/04/2021 - 06/03/2022, has been reviewed and is acceptable for up to 20.00 Elective credit(s) by the American Academy of Family Physicians. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
Workshop Purpose:
We teach injection techniques for Botox-applicable medical conditions (chronic migraines, cervical dystonia, limb spasticity, as well as aesthetic procedures such as frown line or crow's feet correction). In addition, we also teach injection techniques for office-based orthopedic procedures such as joint and bursa injections, nerve blocks and muscle trigger point injections.
Participants will practice injection techniques with and without ultrasound guidance during the workshop. We will also cover indications, contraindications, possible complications, billing methods, and coding. What is learnt should be readily applicable in practice.
Objectives:
• Perform large, medium, and small joint injections with and without ultrasound guide
• Perform tendon sheath, bursa and muscle injection
• Perform Botox injection
• Perform peripheral nerve blocks
• Establish indication, contraindication for injection procedures
• Recognition of complications with injections and blocks
• Documentation for procedures, coding, and reimbursement
• Perform orthopedic history taking and examination
• Differential diagnosis of MSK pain and neurological deficit
