Description:
The rapid and worrying increase in antibiotic resistance is mainly due to the widespread and often uncritical use of antibiotics. Various studies assume that 30-50% of antibiotic use is not clinically justified. That is why strategies for the rational use of antibiotics have been developed in recent years, which are known as Antibiotic Stewardship (ABS) . In premature and newborn babies, children and adolescents as well as young adults with chronic underlying diseases (e.g. cystic fibrosis) who are treated in outpatient and inpatient pediatric and adolescent medicine, there are a number of special features with regard to the rational use of antibiotics, the special pediatric infectious knowledgeand require pediatric clinical expertise . This is what this pediatric-specific ABS course aims to convey.
