Abdominal Ultrasound - Core Course is organized by Thomas Jefferson University (TJU) and will be held from Jun 17 - 19, 2021 at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States of America.

Who Should Attend:
Physicians, clinicians, medical professionals, and cross-training technologists interested in the sonographic manifestations of normal and pathologic conditions of abdominal organs. Scanning experience is recommended.
Accreditation:
Thomas Jefferson University designates this live material activity for a maximum of 15 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Entire Course AND Hands-On: 15 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™

Program Description:
The two-day Abdominal program covers the broad range of applications for ultrasound evaluation of the abdomen. The program consists of lectures and case reviews. The Saturday optional hands-on experience with live models provides an opportunity for clinicians to hone skills and develop new ones. 

Emphasis is placed on an integrated approach combining details of normal ultrasound anatomy and typical ultrasound patterns of abdominal pathology.

Lecture Topics:
Specific lecture topics include a review of principles of ultrasound physics, instrumentation and imaging techniques including Doppler, and ultrasound evaluation of:
• Great Vessels
• Liver
• Biliary System
• Pancreas
• Kidneys
• Spleen
• Transplants
• Abdominal Doppler (liver, renal, and mesentery)
• Thyroid & Parathyroid
• Scrotum

Educational Objectives:
Through attending this course, the participant should be able to:
• Recognize the acoustic representation of normal abdominal anatomy and identify pathologies of the abdomen from ultrasound images
• Understand and discuss the capabilities and limitations of ultrasound evaluation of the abdomen
• Demonstrate improved case interpretation ability

Optional Hands-On Session:
An optional hands-on scanning session is available on Saturday morning from 9:00 am to approximately noon. This session allows students the opportunity to scan models using a variety of ultrasound equipment.

Please note that the Optional Hands-On Session is the only activity on Saturday. No lectures are held on Saturday.
