The 12th Pisa International Diabetic Foot Course is organized by Conference Organisation, Association Development & Project Management (CAP) Partner and will be held from Sep 30 - Oct 03, 2020 at San Ranieri Hotel, Pisa, Tuscany, Italy.

Target Group:
The courses are open to anyone involved in the treatment or management of diabetic foot patients, but the primary target groups are:
• Clinicians with various professions (e.g. endocrinologists, vascular and orthopaedic surgeons, specialised nurses, chiropodists or podiatrists)
• Company representatives and newly appointed managers with an interest in the development of the structure of treatment within the diabetic foot area (NB! Requires confirmation of sponsorship from the company in question. Furthermore, for each company representive registered, the company must also register 1 clinician)

CME credits (European continued medical educational credits):
Please note that in order to obtain the 22 CME credits, you must attend all sessions in the course programme and you must sign that you have done so at the end of each course day.

Theoretical session topics:
• Horizon 2020 for the Diabetic foot
• Neuropathy and the Charcot foot: Pathogenesis and diagnosis
• Neuropathy and Charcot  foot: Therapy
• Diagnosis of infection 
• Therapy of infections 
• From sub-clinical to critical limb ischaemia 
• The surgical management of the D.F.

Practical workshop topics:
• Screening lab - Risk assessment and patients data management: VPT – ABPI – TcPO2
• Offloading in the acute phase
• Offloading in the chronic phase
• Local therapy
• The biomechanical lab 
• Negative pressure wound therapy 
• Basic surgical skills 
• Microbiological sampling and processing
• Thermal imaging
• New technologies 

4 Day Theoretical Course & Practical Training:
The 4 day theoretical course & practical training give participants a thorough introduction to all aspects of the diagnosis, management and treatment of the diabetic foot, including the following elements:
• Pathogenesis and clinical presentation
• Systemic aspects of the diabetic foot
• Lesions
• Charcot neuro-arhropathy management
• Diagnostic approach
• Imaging
• Revascularization
• Therapy - medical, surgical, rehabilitative
• Live Cases from the operating room with interactive audiovisual connection
• The diabetic foot clinic – structure and establishment
Lectures will be combined with practical sessions held in the afternoon at the diabetic foot clinic of the Pisa University Hospital.
