The field of infectious diseases is constantly changing posing challenges for front-line healthcare providers in the clinic and hospital settings. Emerging infections, multiple resistant pathogens, new diagnostics, guidelines, regulations, and antimicrobials require continuous learning. This course will provide up to date, concise and evidence-based presentations to keep you on top of the infectious challenges you face daily in practice. The course will feature lectures, case presentations and interactive discussions to enhance providers’ knowledge to diagnose treat and prevent the infections they will commonly see in practice.

Updates on travel medicine, viral hepatitis and HIV, mycobacterial infections, use of microbiota therapeutics, complicated head and neck infections, C. difficile, Helicobacter pylori, fungal and parasitic infections, multi-resistant organisms and using social media to help manage infectious diseases. Prepare for our visual photo-quizzes and bring your difficult cases for our curbside the consultants session.

Learning Objectives:
Upon the conclusion of this activity, an attendee must be able to,
• Execute new strategies for the treatment of common infections in the era of resistance
• Identify how to prevent emerging causes of viral hepatitis
• Interpret current information on the prevention and treatment of infections in adult and pediatric travelers
