Conference Brochure

American Psychiatric Association (APA) 2020 Annual Meeting is organized by the American Psychiatric Association (APA). The session is held from Apr 25 - 29, 2020 at Pennsylvania Convention Center, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States of America.

Who Should Attend?
Over five days, those who will shape the future of psychiatry will come together under one roof. The Annual Meeting is designed for all mental health professionals and advocates, including practicing, administrative, and consultive psychiatrists; researchers and educators of psychiatry; residents; and students. Whether you work in a private hospital, state mental health facility, correctional setting, or private practice, APA's Annual Meeting has something to offer you.

Accreditation:
The APA designates this live activity for a maximum of 35 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Description:
The symposium is an association of psychiatrists working synchronically to assure humane care and effective treatment for patients with mental disorders. The session is the voice and the concise of modern psychiatry.

The theme for this year's Annual Meeting is "Advancing Quality: Challenges and Opportunities," chosen because of the importance and timeliness of the topic of quality in medical care.

APA knows how challenging clinical practice can be, with the variety of pressures on psychiatrists and care teams. At times, these pressures can even seem at odds with delivering high-quality care. And yet, there are opportunities ahead to ensure more individuals suffering from mental illness have access to quality psychiatric care.

The 2020 Annual Meeting will help you navigate issues like outcome measurement, quality improvement, infrastructure, reporting, service delivery and systems change. Sessions on quality will range from the most practical clinical topics, to the latest research, to the policy and advocacy issues that impact your everyday practice.

Educational Objectives:
By participating in this meeting, you will:
• Describe new research findings in psychiatry and neuroscience and how they may impact practice.
• Apply quality improvement strategies to improve clinical care.
• Provide culturally competent care for diverse populations.
• Describe the utility of psychotherapeutic and pharmacological treatment options.
• Integrate knowledge of current psychiatry into discussions with patients.
• Identify barriers to care, including health service delivery issues.
