The Changing Standards of Dental Care 2019
The Changing Standards of Dental Care is organized by Second District Dental Society of New York (SDDSNY) and will be held on Oct 18, 2019 at Hilton Garden Inn New York/Staten Island, Staten Island, New York, United States of America. This Conference has been approved for a maximum of 6 MCEU Hours.
In this age of increasing scrutiny and litigation against the dental profession, dentists must be aware of how to meet accepted standards of dental care. Dr. Gardiner will use actual malpractice lawsuits as teaching tools to educate new and experienced dentists on some of the most important areas of malpractice litigation.
Topics of discussion will include:
• Patient's medical history
• Antibiotics in dentistry
• Informed consent
• Prescription writing for opioids and understanding the medical condition of your patients
• Obtaining releases
• Clostridium difficile
• Standards of care in areas of dentistry
• Oral cancer screening
• Diagnosis and documentation
• Drug and alcohol use in patients
• Oral surgery
Attendees will get to analyze and review dental malpractice lawsuits involving all the above areas in dentistry. Participants are encouraged to bring their entire professional staff to take part in this all-day course. Upon successful completion of the course, attendees will learn the most critical areas of dentistry in 2019 that will require dentists and their staffs to reevaluate if they are meeting accepted standards of care and what they must do to meet these changing standards.
