Conference Brochure

ICOI World Congress XXXVII is organized by International Congress of Oral Implantologists (ICOI) and will be held from Aug 15 - 17, 2019 at New York Marriott Marquis, New York, United States of America.

ICOI designates the Scientific Program for 20 continuing education credits.

Learning Objectives:
World Congress XXXVII attendees will have an opportunity to more fully understand:
• A recommended comprehensive evaluation and treatment planning process
• The range and solutions for implant complications and when you must refer
• The use of new materials for full arch implant supported temporary and final prostheses
• Different surgical approaches for sinus grafting
• The efficacy of synthetic sinus graft materials
• Complex rehabilitation processes with implants
• The comparative life span of fixed versus overdenture prostheses
• Materials and techniques to stabilize 3D architecture for grafting
• The significant role hygienists in successful implant therapy
• Yesterday’s marketing and the future
• How the US and various worldwide certification processes benefit the public today and, in the future

Pre-Congress Courses:
Bone Graft Cements: A Turning Point in the Augmentation Field

Conventional grafting procedures require skillfulness besides experience, and even so are still cumbersome, time consuming, with prolong healing period and limited amount of vital bone as a result.

While in addition to the above, the surgical techniques involved with those grafting materials necessitate tension free, primary closure, membrane coverage, additives etc. all of which force us to perform more invasive and intrusive surgical procedures.

In the last few years a genuine and significant change takes place owing to the development of the patented biphasic calcium sulfate Bone cements. The exponential dissemination of this new disruptive revolutionary concept is challenging the status quo that contribute noticeably to any clinician who got trained and implemented the system in his practice, benefiting significantly him and his patients as well.

Course Objectives
Upon completion of this course, attendees will understand:
• Rationale for bone grafting procedures and graft selection
• Basic criteria and techniques to obtain and enhance the volume and predictability of bone formation in the grafted site
• Scientific Rationales, and practical ways to incorporate bone graft cements in our daily practice
• Surgical protocols and techniques for using bone graft cements in a diversity of indications

Surgical and Prosthetic Considerations for the Full-Arch Zirconia Prosthesis
Full arch implant supported prostheses have become very popular with well-documented high success rates. However, some controversy remains regarding the number and position of implants as well as the type of restorative material. This course will review various literature-based treatment options for the surgical and prosthetic rehabilitation of the edentulous arch. A detailed step-by-step protocol will be discussed with emphasis on the surgical and prosthetic considerations for the full-arch monolithic zirconia prosthesis.

Course Objectives
Upon completion of this course, attendees will:
• Understand the various treatment options for the full-arch implant fixed prostheses
• Learn surgical protocols involved immediate and delated treatment
• Understand the benefits of monolithic zirconia prostheses
• Learn the step-by-step protocol for the prosthetic rehabilitation of the edentulous arch
• Understand possible surgical and prosthetic complication of the full-arch prostheses

Immediate Loading and Implant Placement - From Biology to the Final Prosthodontics
In immediate loading, the survival rate is often based on the follow-up of the osseointegration, but without aesthetic appreciation. The main goal is to achieve osseointegration and aesthetics with longterm stability. For this success we need to obtain both, bone formation and gum thickness, as any failure in one of the two factors will induce the loss in the second factor. Several requirements have to be reached in order to obtain and maintain them together for a very long time:
• Biological requirements are linked to the early vascularization (appreciation of the biologic level, growth factors, collagen environment).
• Anatomical & Surgical requirements will help to identify the best implant placement and positioning (Fast Guide system, sub-crestal insertion, platform switching, etc…).
• Prosthetic requirements are essential for aesthetic as guidance for soft tissue design (rigid and screwed provisional prosthesis).

Course Objectives
Upon completion of this course, attendees will:
• Learn how to ideally position implants (biology, approach, material, surgery)
• Identify the limits and indications of immediate loading
• Ensure a sustainable and aesthetic treatment with immediate loading

Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF) and Guided Bone Regeneration for Everyday Dentistry
The objective of this course is to understand how the growth factors are produced and activated to improve bio-compatibility in procedures like GBR (Guided Bone Regeneration), soft tissue management and socket preservation. There is scientific evidence to demonstrate that the growth factors are released by platelets and white blood cells. Tooth extraction techniques have been undergoing modification for the longest time. Several surgical techniques have been proposed by clinicians to preserve the socket during extraction. This course is designed to give you an overview of some of the most common and predictable techniques available for general and implant dentists.

One-step Alveolar Ridge Socket Preservation without the Need of a Membrane, Plus Advanced Surgical Implant Concepts in Bone Regeneration
From simple and cost-effective socket grafting to more advanced clinical concepts in bone regeneration, this course covers a spectrum of pliable preformed shapes used for bone grafting procedures for implant placement. Surgical techniques and novel biomaterials will be discussed using Synthetic Bioactive Resorbable Calcium Apatite crystals as a collagen composite material to include the resorbable OsteoGen® Bone Grafting Plugs and Strips. The scientific and biologic basis of growth factor utilization in bone and soft tissue applications will be reviewed using L-PRF technology combined with the OsteoGen® Plugs and Strips.

Course Objectives
• Demonstrate simple, predictable, and cost-effective socket grafting techniques without the use of a membrane using the OsteoGen® Bone Grafting Plugs, and Strips for implant defects
• Review additional surgical applications covering post-extraction grafting around immediate implant placement including filling interproximal and facial gaps after extraction
• Discuss the scientific and biological basis of growth factor utilization in bone and soft tissue grafting applications

Piezoelectric Sinus Elevation Using The Piezotome-CUBE - A Hands-On Course
This course will demonstrate how Piezo technology is used in a dental implant practice. The course is a lecture and hands-on laboratory format. The participant will perform a lateral sinus window on a model.

Course Objectives
Upon completion of this course, attendees will:
• Describe the advantages of Piezo technology versus a conventional rotary instrument
• Understand how different tips can be used for different applications
• Articulate potential complications of Piezo technology when protocol is not followed
• Describe why Piezo is more ergonomic than a traditional hand piece and rotary bur
