Diagnostic pathology of salivary glands is organized by Vincent Academy of Pathology (VAP) and will be held from Sep 18 - 20, 2019 at Lentos Art Museum Linz, Linz, Upper Austria, Austria.
Target Audience:
This course is designed for practicing pathologists as well as pathologists in training.
Course objectives:
A total number of 60 cases, dealing with a variety of benign and malignant tumors and tumor-like conditions will be discussed. Several common as well as uncommon tumors of the major and minor salivary glands are included.
On each day, 20 cases will be extensively discussed by the faculty members using an interactive approach (live microscopic presentation of the cases). Particular attention will be paid to the diagnostic criteria with systematic analysis of differential diagnoses. Value and limitations of immunohistochemistry and molecular-genetic tools will be demonstrated and critically discussed. A comprehensive review and update of histopathology with discussion of clinical significance of benign and malignant tumors of the salivary glands will be provided. In addition, several lectures will give an overview on classification and diagnostic issues, complementing the case discussions.
The participants will have the opportunity to review the digitized cases (virtual microscopy) four weeks prior to and four weeks after the course.
Additional details will be posted as soon as they are available.
