Advanced Airway Course Yellowstone/Tetons is organized by Center for Emergency Medical Education (CEME) and will be held from Jun 10 - 12, 2019 at Jackson Lake Lodge, Moran, Wyoming, United States of America.
The target audience for this medical event is tailored to emergency physicians, but critical care physicians, anesthesiologists, and other clinicians responsible for emergency and difficult airway management are encouraged to attend. This CME Conference has been approved for a maximum of 16 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.
The Advanced Airway Course focuses on advanced airway management techniques including flexible fiberoptics, video laryngoscopes, and surgical airways. We review airway anatomy using a variety of imaging modalities and discuss critical care cases involving difficult airway management. In addition we review rescue ventilation devices, strategies to prevent desaturation, and the use of non-invasive ventilation and oxygenation devices.
Specialized and custom designed airway manikins provide anatomic variation for hands-on practice with various laryngoscopes, fiberscopes, and surgical devices. Attendees practice nasoendoscopy using sterile sheaths on themselves and each other. (Participants on anticoagulants should not undergo nasoendoscopy.)
• Incorporate use of flexible nasoendoscopy with epiglottoscopy into practical airway management
• Explain the risks and benefits of RSI vs. awake (non-muscle relaxant use) intubation in emergency airway situations.
• Demonstrate optimal methods for nasoendoscopy using flexible scopes.
• Execute the skills to perform nasoendoscopy to view upper airway anatomy and abnormalities.
Additional details will be posted as soon as they are available.
