The target audience for this medical event is DOT-certified physicians, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners who provide assessments of commercial drivers with or at risk for diabetes. This CME Conference has been approved for a maximum of 3.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.
The goal of this activity is to improve the competence of DOT-certified examiners and other clinicians in managing diabetes among commercial drivers, a targeted patient population at high risk for both diabetes as well as adverse diabetes-related health outcomes.
Conference Objectives are : -
• Compare and contrast the risk factors for diabetes and comorbid diseases between commercial drivers and the general population
• Individualize and maintain glycemic targets for commercial truckers that reflect glycemic patterns, patient factors, and considerations for driving safety
• Safely and appropriately select and combine antihyperglycemic medications to initiate and/or intensify individualized diabetes regimens for patients without glycemic control
• Consider findings of cardiovascular outcomes trials when selecting antidiabetes regimens for commercial drivers with elevated cardiovascular risk factors
