Splinting 101: Fundamentals for Splint Fabrication is organized by DMC - Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan and will be held on Apr 14, 2018 at DMC Sports Medicine - Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan, Detroit, Michigan, United States of America.
The target audience for this medical event is Occupational Therapists, Occupational Therapy Assistants. This CME Conference has been approved for a maximum of 7 Contact Hours.
This course that combines lecture and hands-on splint fabrication. Attendees will be provided with a review of hand anatomy, descriptions of various splinting materials, common conditions and contraindications for splinting in the acute and inpatient populations, and alternatives to custom splints. The hands-on lab component will involve fabrication of the commonly requested volar wrist immobilization splint and CMC immobilization splint.
Conference Objectives are :
• Identify basic hand anatomy for splint fabrication
• Differentiate between types of splinting material
• Determine patients need for a custom splint versus a pre-fabricated splint
• Fabrication of resting hand splint, volar wrist immobilization and CMC immobilization
