Conference Brochure

8th Annual Pediatric Rheumatology: An Update for Clinicians is organized by New York University (NYU) School of Medicine and will be held on Mar 14, 2018 at NYU Langone Medical Center, New York, United States of America.

The target audience for this medical event is General pediatricians, nurse practitioners, pediatric subspecialists, pediatric rheumatologists, adult rheumatologists, internists, family practitioners and trainees (including medical students, residents, and fellows). This CME Conference has been approved for a maximum of 3.50 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.

Conference Description :
pediatric Rheumatology is one of the newest and smallest pediatric subspecialties. There are fewer than 250 pediatric rheumatologists in the United States, with several states lacking even a single pediatric rheumatologist. Many general pediatricians and adult rheumatologists must, therefore, have sufficient training to diagnose children with rheumatic disease. Promoting increased awareness is essential for treating rheumatic disease earlier in order to minimize damage and improve patient outcomes.

This unique course will focus on closing the gap between clinical experience and practice through expert lectures and will include a panel discussion and question and answer portion. The program will include a half-day conference followed by an expert panel discussion. The intended audience includes general pediatricians, pediatric subspecialists, adult rheumatologists, as well as trainees including house staff, fellows, and medical students. There is no other course like this being offered in New York State, and few, if any, in the country. It has been well-attended in the past, with over 150 attendees.

This year's program includes new topics given by world-renowned experts, with lectures on updates on Lyme disease, juvenile-onset dermatomyositis phenotypic differences, back pain in children, cutaneous manifestations of rheumatic disease and common variable immunodeficiency.

Conference Objectives are :
After participating in this activity, clinicians should be able to:
• Recognize the symptoms of Juvenile Dermatomyositis in their patients despite the variable disease severity and manifestations
• Appropriately assess for and diagnose Common Variable Immunodeficiency Disorder (CVID) • Diagnose and treat Lyme Disease
• Describe the variable cutaneous manifestations of rheumatic disease
• Develop an appropriate differential diagnosis of back pain, as well as initial work up which may include labs, imaging and sub-specialty referral

Additional details will be posted as soon as they are available.
