Introduction to Neuro-Developmental Treatment (NDT): The Basics for Pediatric Therapists is organized by Neuro-Developmental Treatment Association (NDTA) and will be held during May 04 - 05, 2018 at Dayton Children's Hospital, Dayton, Ohio, United States of America. This CME Conference has been approved for a maximum of 13.00 Continuing Education Hours.
Course Description : This beginner level course will focus on introducing pediatric PTs, OTs, and SLPs to NDT (Neurodevelopmental Treatment) handling techniques for the pediatric client with neuromotor challenges. Information presented will address current NDT principles including beginning assessment/evaluation and problem-solving handling techniques. Participants will be assisted to improve their observational skills and direct handling skills while problem solving using NDT techniques to improve function for their pediatric clients. Both didactic lecture and hands-on labs will be presented throughout this course. Therefore, it is recommended that participants bring comfortable clothing for treatment labs. In addition to didactic information, direct handling with lab partners using problem-solving will enhance learning. Discussion will be included addressing current trends in pediatrics.
Course Objectives are :
• Demonstrate a basic understanding of current NDT philosophy with clinical application for assessment and intervention planning using ICF model.
• Practice a variety of handling strategies utilizing NDT intervention for improving functional independence.
• Demonstrate importance of direct handling with problem solving throughout intervention.
• Discussion of current pediatric trends including adjuncts.
