Conference Description :
Part 1 of this two-part series focused on the acute management of the patient with SCI. healthcare professionals as a team can provide the education and tools for people with SCI to learn to become experts on how their bodies work and on the care required. A successful plan of care can be developed only with input from the person with an SCI. This final module provides information about spinal injury rehabilitation and functional potential for people with SCI, recognition and management of chronic complications, interventions for specific physiological alterations and SCI research trends.
Conference Objectives are :
• Describe functional potential for people with spinal cord injury at specific levels of injury.
• Discuss interventions for specific physiological alterations after spinal cord injury.
• Describe signs and symptoms and management of the following complications of chronic spinal cord injury: autonomic dysreflexia, chronic pain, spasticity, syringomyelia and heterotrophic ossification.
