The Nurse With Substance Use Disorder Course for Dietitians is organized by ContinuingEducation.com - OnCourse Learning Corporation Dietetic Diversity and will be held during Mar 27, 2017 - Mar 27, 2020.
The target audience for this medical event is Dietetics/Nutrition. This CME Conference has been approved for a maximum of 1.00 CPEU.
The American Nurses Association has long estimated that misuse of chemical substances among nurses parallels that of mainstream society. Research indicates nurses with substance use disorder often begin misusing drugs, including alcohol, before finishing their nursing education and can make an entire work group dysfunctional, both before and after discovery. Use of labels such as impaired and addicted can result in stigmatization and criminalization of the behaviors, making it more difficult for the nurse to seek help or for their peers to report them for intervention. This activity will help you to recognize and support colleagues who may be suffering from substance use disorder while protecting patient safety.
The goal of this substance-use-disorder-in-nursing continuing education program is to help nurses recognize and support colleagues who may be suffering from a substance use disorder.
Conference Objectives are :
• Identify five behaviors suggestive of a coworker suffering from a substance use disorder
• Relate the incidence and characteristics of nurses at risk for substance abuse
• Describe three measures to take when reporting a colleague suspected of substance use disorder
Additional details will be posted as soon as they are available.
