Faisal Bakaeen, MD, is a cardiac surgeon in the Department of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery in the Sydell and Arnold Miller Family Heart & Vascular Institute. He is board-certified in surgery and cardiac and thoracic surgery. Dr. Bakaeen is Professor of Surgery at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine.

Dr. Bakaeen earned his degree in medicine and surgery with honors from the University of Cambridge School of Medicine, Cambridge, UK, and completed his postgraduate training at the University of Cambridge School of Medicine Teaching Hospitals. He served a residency in general surgery at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minn., followed by a cardiothoracic surgery fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston. He completed his subspecialty training in minimally invasive cardiac surgery and complex cardiac procedures at Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland. Dr. Bakaeen was appointed to the Cleveland Clinic medical staff in 2015.

David S. Ludwig, MD, Ph.D. is a practicing endocrinologist and researcher at Boston Children’s Hospital. He holds the rank of Professor of Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School and Professor of Nutrition at Harvard School of Public Health. Dr. Ludwig is Founding Director of the Optimal Weight for Life (OWL) program at Children’s Hospital, one of the country’s oldest and largest multidisciplinary clinics for the care of overweight children. He also directs the New Balance Foundation Obesity Prevention Center at Children’s Hospital.

Dr. Ludwig is a fellow of The Obesity Society and recipient of the E.V. McCollum Award (2008) of the American Society for Nutrition. He is Principal Investigator on numerous grants from the National Institutes of Health, has published over 150 scientific articles, and serves as Contributing Writer for JAMA. Dr. Ludwig is the author of a book on childhood obesity for parents (Ending the Food Fight: Guide Your Child to a Healthy Weight in a Fast Food/Fake Food World Houghton Mifflin, 2007). His latest book, for a general audience, is entitled Always Hungry? Conquer Cravings, Retrain Your Fat Cells, and Lose Weight Permanently (Grand Central Publishing, January 2016). He appears frequently in national print and broadcast media.

Dr. Sotirios SARAVELOS graduated from the University of Sheffield, UK, where he later undertook research in the field of reproductive medicine and particularly recurrent miscarriage. He subsequently continued his specialty training in London, where he was also awarded an Honorary Clinical Research Fellowship by Imperial College London, while working at St. Mary’s Hospital. He is currently a Visiting Scholar (Honorary) at The Chinese University of Hong Kong.

Certified in Age Management Medicine with Cenegenics Education and Research Foundation (CERF) with 60 credits AMA (2011). Dr. Durantez has practised sports medicine since 1988 with medical clinics, athletic teams, sports federations and numerous athletes of all levels and categories from exercise for health to Olympic athletes. Since 2005, Dr. Durantez has developed and led several projects in Medical Fitness and Age Management Medicine. He has attended hundreds of interviews in all types of media, has written hundreds of divulgative articles and is a regular international speaker. Currently, Dr. Durantez is the Medical Director of his own Clinic in Madrid and a well-known clinician in Age Management Medicine in Spain.

“Dr Ben” was raised in the East Cobb part of North Atlanta, and moved to Savannah for his residency training. He joined Pediatric Associates of Savannah after working with some of the physicians here, based on their strong sense of community, leadership, and patient advocacy. Dr Ben has held various roles with the American Academy of Pediatrics on both the state and national levels, and is presently President of the Georgia AAP, where he helps work with pediatric leaders from across Georgia to shape the healthcare landscape for children.
