Biography :

1988-Completed his md at McGill University in Montreal 1994 Specialist in Physical medicine and Rehabilitation -University of Ottawa 1996-Completed an Interventional Pain management Fellowship at Université Catholique de Louvain (UCL) in Brussels. 1997-Sports Medicine specialist in Canada. Dr Adahan’s career has been notable for the following innovations in the Field of Pain Rehabilitation.: 1996-97 invented his first original Interventional Pain management technique; namely, a new technique for relieving shoulders pain involving an original approach for Supra-scapular nerve blocks. For this, He won the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Young Investigator award and P.A.S.S.O.R. research prize. (The American Physiatrist Association of Spine, Sports and Occupational Rehabilitation (PASSOR) as well as $250 000 research grant from the Canadian Arthritis Society. 1997-2008- Mix of private and hospital practice in Montreal 2008-present:Director of the Pain Rehabilitation center in Israel’s largest hospital and the largest Rehabilitation campus in the entire middle east and Mediterranean basin where he built a new 500 square meter Pain Center at Sheba hospital, the first such center in Israel to meet IASP criteria for such. 2009: working as a consultant for Nanovibronix , developed the clinical protocols for the first ever medical use of Surface acoustic wave , low intensity , low frequency ultrasound. He perfected the clinical protocols for the application of this technology in Trigeminal Neuralgia pain which was presented at the 7th Congress of the European Federation of IASP Chapters (EFIC) 2011in Hamburg 2009-present: Working alongside Professor Marshal Devor, Dr. Adahan challenged conventional thinking as to the cause of Phantom limb pains and demonstrated that the nerve signals generating phantom phenomena emanate from the bodies of the injured nerve cells in the DRG and not the brain. 2014-present- development of his 2nd original Interventional Pain management involving injecting Botulin toxin to the hard to reach Subscapular muscle for the relief of Tight spastic Painful hemiplegic Shoulders under fluoroscopic guidance. 2000-2015- accumulation of clinical experience treating over 1000 patients with intractable neuropathic pain with medical cannabis which started in Canada alongside Dr Marc Ware , who lead the launch of the Quebec Cannabis Registry, one of the largest studies ever conducted on medical marijuana. Dr Adahan continues to explore the benefits of medical cannabis at Sheba Hospital in Israel in collaboration with University of Haifa and is a key part the world’s largest ongoing outcome database on this subject
