Dr. Jayakumar completed a fellowship in transplant hepatology at University of Alberta Hospital and one in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease at University of Virginia School of Medicine in Charlottesville. She did her residencies in both internal medicine and gastroenterology at University of Western Ontario in London, Canada, where she was chief resident. Dr. Jayakumar earned her medical degree from University of Manitoba Faculty of Medicine. She is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCPC) in gastroenterology and internal medicine. She has published several articles in peer-reviewed journals and is author of many book chapters as well. She served as the GI consultant to the Calgary Zoo.
I am a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists with the additional qualifications of the Certificate in Forensic Psychiatry and the Certificate in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Since 2010 I have prepared a number of assessment reports for adults and youth with mental illness or intellectual disability in District, Court of Appeal and High Court and Youth Court jurisdictions in New Zealand, and prepared medico-legal reports for the Supreme Court and Parole Board of the Northern Territory of Australia. I am the recipient of the RANZCP Medlicott Award for excellence in research in Forensic Psychiatry. I have read and agree to comply with the Code of Conduct for Expert Witnesses set out in High Court Rules 2016.
